Betty Jean George, MS, LPC, ACS — Founder of A Guidance for Change

Credentials

MS, LPC, ACS

Betty Jean George is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Approved Clinical Supervisor with years of experience serving youth, young adults, and adults across Georgia. She founded A Guidance for Change on a simple but powerful belief — that every person, regardless of where they are in life, carries the capacity for growth, healing, and renewal.

Betty's work is rooted in a whole-person philosophy that honors the mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of wellbeing. Drawing on evidence-based practices and a deep commitment to her clients, she creates a space where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported.

Her practice spans individual counseling, small groups, workshops, trainings, and specialized assessments — serving a wide range of needs from daily life challenges to court-ordered evaluations. She also provides ACS-level clinical supervision for counselors working toward licensure in Georgia.

Betty is also the host of the YouTube channel 'Betty the CrazyTherapist' (@Aguideforchange), where she shares practical mental health insights, encouragement, and resources for everyday people navigating real-life challenges.

Betty's approach

Every session, group, and training Betty leads is shaped by three core commitments.

1

Strengths-based

Betty starts with what's working. Rather than focusing solely on problems, she helps clients identify and build on their existing strengths, resilience, and resources.

2

Spiritually grounded

Faith and spirituality are woven into Betty's practice for those who welcome it. Her work is inspired by Ephesians 4:22-24 — the call to be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

3

Trauma-informed

Betty approaches every client with an awareness of how past experiences shape present behavior. Her practice is safe, non-judgmental, and sensitive to the complexity of each person's story.

Who Betty works with

Betty works with a broad range of individuals and groups — from youth navigating school and identity, to adults managing life transitions, to counselors building their clinical careers.
